What Moves You, Moves Us

Brooks Running

the story

As part of the Brooks Running What Moves You, Moves Us Spring 2025 campaign, SD was tapped to create a content series spotlighting real people shaping the future of running. The goal: tap into what’s truly moving people to run today.

We built the series around three powerful storytelling themes – Advocacy, Love, and Recovery – each rooted in cultural relevance and told through the lens of a singular, impactful individual (influencer):

Advocacy

  • Why it Matters: Running today looks–and feels–different. The sport is evolving thanks to advocates making it more inclusive and representative every day.

  • Our Lens: Feature a voice driving that change.

  • Story Partner: Liv Stone – a 3x para surf medalist who is a disability advocate showcasing her journey of successful surfing with an absent hand

Love

  • Why it Matters: In 2024, running emerged as a surprising backdrop for modern connections – a new kind of connection.

  • Our Lens: Show how running is the very foundation of romantic relationships and shared growth.

  • Story Partner: Joe Chu & Sally Tran – a couple who transformed their relationship through running, finding unexpected closeness in their shared challenge of running their first marathon

Recovery

  • Why it Matters: For many, running is more than a sport – it’s a path forward. It signifies healing, resilience, and limitlessness.

  • Our Lens: Show how running culture is more accessible, more motivational, and more pivotal for daily life than it’s ever been before.

  • Story Partner: Chase Friedman –  a recovering quadriplegic who used running as a symbol, and vehicle, of recovery.

The Results

  • 25.6M impressions (exceeding benchmark by 44%)

  • 99% positive/neutral sentiment (exceeding benchmark by 10%)
